Design File Missing but Coming

Knowing that I will not be living here and doing this forever. I am always going through ideas of what I could become or do in the future. Right now, I am seriously thinking about learning a little Spanish, and then getting certified to teach abroad. You don't have to know another language but I figure why not. There are many companies who will certify you and then hopefully place you in a classroom in some exotic country. I am shooting for Cambodia b/c Angelina Jolie happens to have a spot out there in the middle of the jungle. No not really. Anyways, I think its a perfect way to travel and make some money. Not a permanent thing, but at least for a year if I decide to go through with it. Still sitting on the D.C. thing and looking out West as well.

Latte Sippin' Hoodlums

Brain, Tobin and I have a new thing where we goto Starbucks each weekend and read the newspaper. I personally enjoy the New York Times. We sip our drinks and then discuss our favorite current event. I feel bad b/c last night I skipped out on the event and went to the hotspots downtown. However, I will make up for it today.

Next week will be the grand homecoming of some friends for Thanksgiving. One to note is Scott from Hawaii, it will be good to see him again. We need to discuss some future traveling events.

Mount St. Helens

Thought I would share this with everyone. The company I work for, TerraPoint, recently flew some missions over Mount St. Helens. This is the volcano that had been erupting last month in the Pacific Northwest. We use LIDAR which is laser mapping of the earth. I won't get into the details but you can find out more if you click on the links below. Anyways, NASA used our LIDAR data and IKONOS satellite data to produce some pretty cool pics and a movie. I am sure they also got some important info from the data as well. Here is the link to the NASA website where they wrote an article about LIDAR and the St. Helens research and what they found.

This is the final product as far as TerraPoint goes. This image is extracted down to bare earth, initially there is a lot more vegetation and anything that is not ground.

Car on the Curb

I wake up this morning and as usual I open the window to take in the day ahead. I try to simulate what I did in Hawaii every morning, but for reason the view is not the same. Anyways, I take a gander at my neighbors car and soon figure out its halfway in their yard. So as any good blogger would do, I took a pic...

As someone who has been around a lot of drunken stoopers and made some himself I tried to figure this one out. First off, this car is a sedan and low to the ground. If it was a SUV or truck I would let it slide. However, this car's frame would of had to slam into the curb b/c its so low to the ground. I mean I am sure the driver knew she missed his/her spot in the first place, but didn't figure out she only correcected the front wheel and not the back until this morning. Plus, this picture doesn't justify the mistake. His/her back wheel is like 2 feet in the yard. I mean its one thing to drive through someone's yard for a laugh b/c you are intoxicated, but to park in a yard without even noticing your driver side is way closer to the ground is whole different story. I mean, come on.

On another note, Brian and I got switched back to days which kinda stinks since the nights were getting fun. So since I worked last Sunday, I get a 3 day weekend. The downside is I think I am getting sick. My parents are in LA this weekend visiting my sister so maybe I will throw a huge party....Maybe not.

Work...Work...Working

Working at TerraPoint has definitely been taking a lot of my time up these days. I suppose that happens when you spend 40 hours a week in the office. It's really working out well though. I mean I am supposedly the "lead night shift" but have no authority, so technically there is never a boss around. Right now its just me, Brian, and this guy named Rich. He just graduated from Texas State as well. We all get along and have a good time. The time is pretty flexed as long as we get the work done. Right now, we work Sunday through Thursday from 4- 1 am. Working 9 hours each day allows us to work 4-8 on Thursday. So basically we have no room to complain, and we don't. Hopefully, I can keep this for a while and get some experience for the resume.
I actually just applied for a job in D.C. working for a government agency. It's weird because it takes a long time to get cleared with your background checks and all that good stuff, so you really have no idea what is going on. It could be up to a year until I hear something or I could never hear anything. Hopefully it works out though, I think D.C. would be really cool to live in. But if that doesn't go through and I am getting the urge to try something else out, I may apply to graduate school somewhere. I am young so I am just going to take advantage of all the opportunities I can. Who knows, if things work out well with TerraPoint I may stay here for a while. I took a pic of Brian working hard at TerraPoint, this is pretty much what we do...

The big TWO - FOUR

Celebrated my B-day down in Rice Village last Friday. It was a grand time. Taylor and I have Birthdays a day apart so we celebrated together. All the Spring peeps came down in full force and we had a blast. Some of us started the night at Lola's, which is this little bar in a rundown house. A lot of interesting people and good music. Then we headed down to Rice Village and met up with everyone else and begun the party. Lots of running around, flirting with the ladies (or at least trying), and catching up with old friends. I really like the scene downtown; it reminds me of Austin and college. Unfortunately for us, its a 30 minute drive so we only do it every once in a while. I have been meaning to bring the camera along but always forget. I think it keeps the BLOG a little more interesting, but oh well maybe some other time. Someone was taking pics, but I don't know who. Well, until next time...
