I'm Confused

I walked into the Houston Airport with my usual suitcase. However, I walked out of the Louisville airport with this little black bag filled with typical toiletries.

I think my luggage shrunk.

This view does look vaguely familiar.

Dont worry, I'm looking forward to celebrating "wear the same boxers two days in a row day"!

The flight was good though. I set next to a girl who went to Texas State and was pretty much my neighbor come to find out. It was her first time to fly too! If only I had those sweet little wings you can pin on your shirt. I so would of hooked her up.

Arts and Crafts Thursday

Brian bought a model airplane kit for Arts and Crafts Day

I chose the Rescue Helicopter by LEGO

This is what I refer to as "honest work".

After a combination of blood, sweat, and tears, the rescue helicopter was ready to be released on her maiden voyage saving lives. I still need to get the wench dialed in though...

Unfortunately, Brian's project is not for the ages of 5 to 12 like mine is, his is for mature adults. Therefore his is taking a little longer but should be ready for the showcase in a few days.

The Da Vinci Code

A buddy from work and I went to check out the highly anticipated Da Vinci code last night. Like 50% of the country we had both read the book and were ready to see it on the big screen. I liked the movie but the book was much better. Due to time constraints it lacked the important history behind the plot which is described in detail in the book. I guess that is how most movies turn out (this is the first book I have ever read that reached the big screen) but those interesting details is what made the book for me. However, I would definitely recommend go seeing the movie and don't worry, Jesus will still love you.

My Sis - Attorney at Law

This past weekend the Pace's headed for Malibu California to watch the beloved daughter/sister graduate from Pepperdine Law School. Getting there didn't go as smoothly as I had planned and the best part was it was my fault and not the older crowd. Yeah, I decided to not pay any attention to my ticket especially the part where it said PM instead of AM, oops. I kept telling my Mom that my flight left 5 minutes before theirs and ignored everyone's advice that that was weird. Long story short, I got the next flight and I was only an hour behind them so everything thing turned out ok. My Dad waited behind for me and the rental van and everyone else went on a tour of Hollywood/Beverly Hills/etc./etc. My Dad and I headed straight for Calabasas conviently avoiding LA. Thanks to my sweet new Garmin iQue M5 we got to the hotel without one wrong turn. Later in the night we met up with everyone and went for a simple dinner at Marie Calendars. Everyone was pretty beat from the flight over and the time zone change so we called it an early night.

Friday morning we all met downstairs for breakfast and we also had a small surprise planned for Allison. One of her life long best friends, Kristen, had secretly flown in the night before with her fiancee and was planning on surprising Allison. Oh and what a surprise it was. Allison walked into the room and walked straight for us not even noticing Kristen sitting at the table next to us. Finally after one of her friends turned her around she saw Kristen standing right behind her. She pretty much just busted out in tears, it was classic... in a good way of course. Well, we got all the mushy mushy stuff over with and headed for Pepperdine University.

Allison had nominated me to be the one to sit behind her and be the "hooder". It was my job to put this hood/cape thing around her neck when the Dean instructed us to, I was honored to. The ceremony was outside with Malibu and the Pacific ocean in the background, it was really nice. I have to give my Sister mad props for such an accomplishment. I can remember at least 2 Christmas breaks where she would spend the entire holiday studying. Its takes tons of dedication and hard work to graduate from law school, and on top of that she had extremely good grades to boot. So GO Sis! I sure hope she gets the kind of job she is looking for but I am sure she will come out successful no matter what.

The Pace's keepin' it real

After the graduation we all went to the Claim House ( i think) and had a really good Lunch/Dinner. After the meal we headed back to the hotel for a nap and some of us youngin's where planning on going to a local bar later that night. Before that could happen we had one more surprise in hand. Allison hadn't really brought it up but I know it was on her mind more than anything. The Bar. The results were to be posted at 6pm that night and both my Mom and her were pretty nervous. Well, I know my Mom was but I didn't see Allison before she found out. Anyways, she passed the California Bar with flying collars and now can be called Attorney at Law (I even changed her name in my cell phone appropiately). The Bar said bring it, and she brought it. I think ~50% pass the bar the first time so next time you see her give her like 3 high-fives. Later that night we all went to this local Cantina in Calabasas and had a few drinks and laughs. My flight left LAX at nooner the next day so I needed some rest.

Saturday, I caught the Super Shuttle to LAX and headed back to Htown for Lance's graduation party.

I got nothing...

Oh man. Its been a while since I have updated this bad boy. It's probably b/c I have been trying to get done with The Da Vinci Code before the movie comes out. If you haven't read it, then you should. It's really hard for me to find a book that can actually make me sit still for more than 10 minutes. From the sounds of it, the movie is going to bring some controversy along with it. The pastor at the church in The Woodlands is going to spend the next 3 Sundays defending the church. I really want to go and hear the other side, I am open to all opinions.

I went mountain biking for the first time in a while and it was wonderful. I think it was about 90 degrees outside and I was loving it! Man, I need to get my butt in gear and start riding again.

I am leaving this Thursday for Cali to attend my sister's graduation from law school. She even chose me to participate in it and put a hood over her or something along those lines.

The Big Apple

I am back in Houston now but I couldn't leave NY state without spending at least one day in the City. We dropped off our rental cars at JFK and then took the Long Island Railroad to Penn Station and then took the red line subway up to Times Square. Which I would recommend because it is the cheapest route by far but if you have a lot of luggage it and I mean more than one big suitcase, it gets pretty tricky. Tyler picked a Best Western right off Times Square, which ended up being a perfect location. Too bad the hotel prices in NYC are outrageous! Anyways, we started off the tour pretty quick and just walked randomly around the city with no certain schedule in no certain direction. I vaguely remembered where everything was from my last visit a year ago so I was the semi tour guide for my Canadian friends. We walked over to Rockefeller center and then towards the Ed Sullivan theatre where the Letterman Show is.

Then we headed towards Central Park which was absolutely amazing due to the great weather. There were thousands of people out there enjoying the nice day. One of my goals in life is to wake up one morning and go running in the Park, its still on the checklist though.

We stopped off and watched some sweet street dancers perform. I liked them so I threw a dollar in the bag.

Then we met up with one of my friends from Oregon. It just so happened Sarah was in the city with her family the same day I was. What's the chances of that!? We met up with her and walked over to Grand Central Station and then back over to Times Square to eat dinner with her family at ESPNzone. From there we split ways from the Fam who was headed back to West Point and we headed south towards Ground Zero. It's such a eerie feeling to be standing there at ground zero and trying to picture the massive size of the twin towers and trying to comprehend what happened. I never actually got to see the twin towers when they towered over the city so I think that makes it even harder to comprehend. From ground zero we headed to Battery Park to try and catch a good view of the Mrs. Liberty before the sun went down. A not so friendly skateboarder called us "Stupid Crackers" because we got in his way. I think its good to get called something like that, its adds to the whole NYC experience. Anyways, we worked our way over to Wall Street which at least to me was not that impressive. After $$$ Avenue the pilots decided it was time they head back to Long Island and Tyler and I headed for Greenwich Village. We went into a few pubs on Bleeker St. and then headed back to Times Square. We decided to get a taxi back just because we hadn't been in a Taxi yet. It was Sunday night so not many things were going on. All and all it was a great trip to NYC, I think I couldn't of stayed one more day, but man is it expensive! I still think it would be cool to live and work in NYC for 6 months to a year.

The Hamptons, Montauk, and the #79

Oh the Hamptons, you gotta love the Hamptons. It's wear the dirty rich hide when the hustle and bustle of NYC gets a little stale. It was fun though driving through, we didn't see any of the super nice houses or neighborhoods but we did see their cars. Ok, I need to cut to the chase. A few days prior I went out there to set up a GPS antenna and I noticed a surprising amount of Land Rovers cruising around. So when I returned with Tyler and the two pilots, Jenna and TK, I wanted to count all of them. Well, I had to because I was talking about this phenomenon a few days prior so I had to prove myself. Well, we counted them and how many did we see on our trip to Montauk via the Hamptons? No... higher, no... higher, YES we saw 79 LAND ROVERS and we didn't even get off the main Hwy 27. It was impressive.

So our main goal of the day was to go check out Montauk Point. The drive through the Hamptons was of course nice and the beautiful day only made it better. We stopped off in Montauk and had lunch and a beer. I had a local brew called Blue Point, not bad. Actually I found a handful of new beer favorites on this trip our East.., Pilsner Urquell (Czech) Yuengling (America's oldest brew) and I think their was one more I liked but cant remember. Anyways, we finally hit Montauk Point. The point has a nice beach and of course Montauk Lighthouse. I am sure it was some great maritime history but the gate was locked so I have no idea. Well, I do know it was commissioned by GW, and I by GW I mean George Washington.

Grupo de Montauk, I think they lined up in the missing man formation for a picture. Unfortunately, I don't think my camera would of taken a good shot from the sand.
